5 Lessons Climbing can teach your Business

Climbing and Business

Climbing is not just about adventure and reaching mountains tops, It’s about challenging yourself, taking risks and achieving what you set out for, while enjoying the journey itself. Business is also similar to climbing. You challenge yourself by starting a business, take risks and finally achieve only what few people have managed to do while enjoying the journey.

1) Always Plan for Safety

Your Safety is paramount in climbing than anything else. There is always something there to protect you in case you fail. The same condition applies for your business. Always have a backup plan. Loosing your capital is a grave mistake. So always plan for safely and steer clear of problems.

2) It’s OK to get Help

It is always nice to have help. Someone to hold your rope or the veteran climber for some pro tips. Even in business having a mentor or someone to guide you through would be a big help. Talk to people who have already found solutions to the problems you face. Learn from their experience.

3) Pack only the Essentials

The baggage you carry weighs heavier for each step you take. A good climber only packs the essentials in his bag. Likewise, your business should only focus on what is necessary. Spend time in developing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) not much on perfecting fonts for you launch event banners. Focus on essential spending for the business initially rather than the interiors and furniture design of the office for example. Bootstrap is the word.

4) Learn to Adapt

Climbing is a unique learning experience. We have to adjust and adapt to the surroundings and events to accomplish our mission. The same applies for your business as well. Unless you learn to adjust your business will struggle. Adapt to the situation.

5) Take that Leap

You have to take that leap. Moving out of your comfort zone and taking that one bold step can bring you the success you have been waiting for. There will be moments when you know, if you don’t take that leap you will be going nowhere. So don’t be afraid. Go ahead and take that leap.
